OLAP
is currently one of the most popular decision support analysis to management.
It allows business people to explore data in detail at a lower and lower level
of the data hierarchy (drill-down) while also able to explore data at the
upper and upper level of hierarchy (roll-up). OLAP is built on the concept
of multidimensional which management can have clearer view of the data they
have in every dimension. We can summarize that OLAP are derived by query-based
methodology.
A sample
of advantages of OLAP is the managing director of a department store can view
sales revenue of sport department by branch, by region, or by country as a
whole, on daily, weekly or monthly basis as he would like to know. So it is
flexible for management executives who would like to have views on their customer
behaviour from multiple aspects.
